First PHARA TX Tile Prototype Delivered to TU Delft

On 16 April 2026, Robin Radar Systems delivered the first prototype TX tile to TU Delft, an important milestone in the realisation of the PHARA radar. Wilbert and Berk from Robin Radar came to TU Delft in person to hand over the tile, along with the workstation, chiller, and software needed to begin measurements.

This TX tile is the first of 14 tiles that will together form the complete transmit phased array antenna of PHARA. With this delivery, the TU Delft team can now begin the first measurements on PHARA hardware.

The next step is to measure the TX tile in the Delft University Chamber for Antenna Tests (DUCAT). In collaboration with ASTRON, the calibration aspects of the tile will be investigated in detail. In due course, the RX tile, equipped with ADCs and fibre data transfer, will also be delivered and measured.

This is the first substantial PHARA hardware to arrive at TU Delft, and a proud moment for the entire consortium.  We are very happy that despite of considerable delay, the development of the TX tile is completed and a test tile is transferred to TU Delft.
