Advancing high-resolution radar for better precipitation forecasting
At the PrePEP 2025 conference in Bonn, PHARA members Remko Uijlenhoet, Marc Schleiss, and Tworit Dash from TU Delft joined a global community of researchers and practitioners dedicated to advancing precipitation estimation and prediction.
While the conference covered a broad range of topics beyond radar, one message came through clearly: the urgent need for high-resolution observations, particularly for fast-evolving convective systems responsible for heavy rainfall and flooding.
PHARA’s contribution to this challenge lies in its innovative phased-array radar technology, developed to deliver the rapid, fine-scale data required for real-time monitoring and forecasting of precipitation. These capabilities support improved understanding of storm dynamics and more accurate early warning systems.
Better radar, better data, better forecasts.
