PHARA at European Microwave Week 2024

The 27th European Microwave Week (EuMW 2024) took place in Paris from September 22-27, gathering experts from industry and academia. The event featured three conferences: the 54th European Microwave Conference (EuMC), the 19th European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference (EuMIC), and the 21st European Radar Conference (EuRAD). With over 800 submitted papers and more than 5,000 visitors, EuMW highlighted cutting-edge research on topics ranging from Microwave and Millimetre-Wave Circuits, Antenna and Transceiver systems for 5G and beyond, THz, Microwave photonics, and High Data Rate Communications.

PHARA consortium members from TNO, Robin Radar, TU/e, and TUD attended the EUMW and presented their research, including a presentation by TUD PhD student Changxu Zhao on polarimetric calibration of MIMO arrays. Changxu’s paper earned the runner-up spot for the Young Engineer Prize at EuRAD.

Another key highlight of EuMW was the European Microwave Exhibition, Europe’s largest RF trade show, attracting over 5,000 visitors, 1,700–2,000 conference delegates, and 300+ exhibitors. Among the sessions, EuMC35 focused on “Advances in Radar Antennas Design and Characterization,” held significant relevance for PHARA’s antenna array development. In contrast to the previous years, there were no session on environment remote sensing at EURAD conferences. The focus of EURAD conference was on such applications as automotive and remote observations of humans.

EuMW 2024 provided an excellent platform for collaboration and innovation, bringing together industry and academic experts to explore the latest advancements in radar and microwave technologies.
